Sensor Fusion Engineer

Build the system that sees everything. INUKSHUK is the common operating picture, you'll build the engine that makes it real.

Job description

INUKSHUK is N51's sensor fusion layer, the system that pulls RF intercepts, EO/IR camera feeds, satellite imagery, ground telemetry, and intelligence reports into a single real-time common operating picture. As Sensor Fusion Engineer, you will build the core processing pipeline that makes this possible: ingesting heterogeneous data streams, aligning them spatiotemporally, resolving entities across modalities, and delivering a fused picture to commanders in under 100 milliseconds. This is deeply technical work at the intersection of signal processing, distributed systems, and applied ML.

What will you do?

Build and optimise real-time data ingestion pipelines for heterogeneous sensor modalities including RF/SIGINT, EO/IR, SAR, AIS, and ground sensor telemetry. Implement spatiotemporal alignment algorithms to synchronise data streams with different update rates, coordinate systems, and latency profiles. Develop entity resolution and persistent tracking across sensor modalities — maintaining consistent entity identity as it moves across coverage areas. Optimise pipeline performance for edge deployment on SWaP-constrained hardware — NVIDIA Jetson Orin and equivalent platforms. Integrate with NATO STANAG data formats and existing CAF sensor infrastructure. Work with the AI/ML team to ensure fused data is correctly formatted for KITCHI's reasoning layer.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in software engineering with at least 2 focused on sensor fusion, signal processing, or real-time data pipelines
  • Strong experience with distributed stream processing frameworks (Apache Kafka, ROS 2, or equivalent)
  • Experience with multi-modal data alignment and spatiotemporal processing
  • Familiarity with military sensor data formats (STANAG 4607, MISB, Link 16) is a strong asset
  • Experience with edge compute optimisation for embedded or resource-constrained platforms
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency required
  • Security clearance eligibility required
