Defence Domain Advisor

The engineering team builds what you tell them matters. You've been in the field, now help build the platform that should have existed when you were there.

Job description

N51's products are only as good as their alignment with real operational requirements. As Defence Domain Advisor, you will be the bridge between the N51 engineering team and the realities of CAF operations, translating mission needs into product requirements, validating platform outputs against doctrine, and ensuring KANATA, INUKSHUK, and KITCHI solve the problems that actually exist in the field rather than the problems engineers imagine exist. You will also play a central role in DND/CAF demonstration and evaluation engagements, including the IDEaS Challenge 13 process.

What will you do?

Work directly with the engineering and product team to translate operational requirements into technical specifications, answering "what does a commander actually need to see and when." Review and validate KITCHI's decision-support outputs against CAF doctrine and Rules of Engagement frameworks. Lead or support DND/CAF technical evaluation and demonstration engagements. Advise on interoperability requirements with existing CAF systems, sensor networks, C2 infrastructure, allied data sharing. Contribute to IDEaS Challenge 13 proposal and evaluation documentation. Maintain awareness of evolving CAF operational doctrine and advise on product roadmap implications.

Requirements:

  • Active or former Canadian Armed Forces officer or senior NCO: intelligence, signals, aviation, maritime, or special operations background preferred
  • Direct experience with ISR operations, C2 systems, or joint operational planning
  • Familiarity with CAF procurement processes and DND/CAF evaluation frameworks is a strong asset
  • Ability to communicate complex operational requirements clearly to a technical engineering audience
  • Active Secret clearance strongly preferred
  • Canadian citizenship required
